Can't live without it

Probably the most important thing I learn in China is which are the things I can't live without.

I know now how precious things like clean air, clean water, safe food are to me. Sounds obvious, right? But you know, I took them for granted when I lived in Europe.

In Vienna, the tab water is spring water and I had easily access to organic food. In Beijing we have air purifiers, water filters and air humidifiers to make our environment bearable, machines to measure the pollution in our flats, apps to be informed by the pollution outdoors.

I know now that this is not a life for me.

I love waking up in the morning and opening the window. Breathing the air. This is one of my biggest pleasures in life.

Sometimes we need to come a long way to understand our values, get to know our needs, test our limits and go back to ESSENTIAL.

I finally understood. What it makes is so hard for me in Beijing is not being able to honor my values and being close to the nature is one of my core values. I had to come to Beijing to understand I truly... desperately... LOVE clean, fresh air.

Over to you: What are the things you can't live without?
