Sensory Experience

When my daughter was 7 months old she started to be very interested in feeling different textures and paying attention to the lighting effects.

I have noticed it and one day I started to explore it with her. The idea came to me by chance: on the rocking chair I used for breastfeeding I had a wool blanket that I had knitted myself a couple of years ago. I took the blanket and put it over our heads:

She was delighted and her eyes were full of surprise and curiosity.

So I took a pile of my beloved scarfs and we continued the sensory experience:

An indigo painted silk scarf from Java :

A cashmere scarf from Thailand:

A linen scarf from France:

I stood with her on my lap and told her the story of each scarf, of each journey. I told her about the fabrics, where they came from, who made them. We touched each of them and we breathed into them.

She looked at me with big curious eyes.
